For the past two years, divers from every corner of the globe have come together for PADI Women’s Dive Day to bond over their love of the ocean and a passion for diving. This growing tradition continued also in 2017, further strengthening and supporting the female dive community through a day of fun, adventure and camaraderie.
PADI Dive Centers and Resorts all over the world hosted more than 700 events in 77 countries last year for the second annual PADI Women’s Dive Day on 16 July 2016. Since the 2015 inaugural event, the celebration has continued to gain momentum as new and experienced divers gear up for everything from high tea on the high seas to shark dives and underwater cleanups.
Once again, the PADI International Women’s Dive Day was also celebrated in our very own town this July 12, 2017. Our Correspondent Leslie M. Manalo, certified Divemaster herself, joined in at Action Divers, a Divecenter in Small Lalaguna, Barangay Sabang. This year, eight women joined the event. After an hour dive free of charge, free lunch was prepared at their dive shop, giving everyone the possibility to chat and share their moments, being woman – there was a lot of chatting and bonding.
It was a successful promotion, other Diveshops held also special events, but Action Divers stand out of the crowd by offering this fun packed day completely free of charge. It will assure that the ladies, and hopefully some more will come and join next year as well.
To encourage more women to learn or keep diving, also giving locals that may not get to dive very often the chance to get in the water and have fun was the main reason behind. Action Divers is expecting more women to join the same event next year.
