Puerto Galera Police Officers Arrest Playa Blanca Beach Resort Robbery Suspect

PUERTO GALERA MUNICIPAL POLICE STATION – A reported robbery incident at Playa Blanca Beach Resort located at So. White Beach, Brgy. San Isidro Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro was immediately responded by personnel of Puerto Galera MPS in direct supervision of PCI LAWRENCE V PANGANIBAN, Officer In-Charge. The said conducted pursuit operation resulted to the arrest of the suspect. The Desk Officer on duty said that at approximately 5:00 PM of April 9,2017 , a phone call was received by this Station,informing about the robbery incident that transpired at the aforementioned beach resort at 11:45 AM of the same date. As a result of the initial investigation conducted by personnel of this Station, Elvis Jonathan Bunquin Garcia, 28 years old, married, manager/dive master and a resident of Sitio Minolo, Brgy. San Isidro, this municipality (the victim), said that at around 4:00 PM, he noticed that the window of their rented room (Room 11) was was slightly deformed and opened. As he entered the said room he found out that his white Samsung Galaxy Note 2 cellphone placed on the room table was missing. During the conduct of investigation and upon reviewing of the recorded CCTV footage, it revealed that there was unidentified man wearing yellow shirt with a huge letter “S inside a circle” sign on front of his shirt, wearing shorts, dark and about 5’5’’ in height was seen walking back and forth of the stairs near Room 11 of the said beach resort and later leaving the area. Further, ocular inspection on the room revealed that the suspect was able to enter the said room by opening the glass sliding window with force using a hard thin object. At about 6:30 PM of the same date with the help of the description provided by the CCTV, personnel of this Station led by PCINSP LAWRENCE V PANGANIBAN conducted follow-up operation. At about 9:30 PM of the same date an information was received by this station about a suspect with the same description was seen walking along the provincial road at Brgy. San Isidro, Puerto Galera Oriental Mindoro. Subsequently the team proceeded at the area to validate the said information and was able to arrest the said suspect with the same description at about 10:30 PM of the same date. Found in his possession through search incident to lawful arrest is the said stolen cellphone. The suspect was identified as Joel Aclan Orbeta, 29 years old, single, farmer and a resident of Brgy. Pachoca, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro and was now in the custody of this Station while all the necessary documents are being prepared for filling of appropriate charges against the suspect.
