Shooting Incident / Murder in Barangay Tabinay

One person left death, others been shocked by the shooting incident at Barangay Tabinay, Municipality of Puerto Galera yesterday noontime.

Investigation disclosed that at about 1 pm the victim, identified as Wilson Alfante Laceda, 37 year old male, resident of Barangay Aninuan, went home after working as an tricycle driver when a still unidentified suspect followed him inside their house in Sigayan and shoot him twice, hitting the victim at the middle part of his chest and his abdomen. The victims children, who were close by during the time of the shooting stayed just a couple of meters away at the house of their relatives. The gunshots where noise enough for everyone, close to the vicinity to be heard. Laceda`s son, 10 year old Warren Laceda, student and a resident of the same place the murder occurred rushed to their house as he noticed an, what he called, “dark man, about 5`7” in height, wearing a blue shirt, brown maong shorts and a black cap” running down the stairs, leading up to the crime-scene in their house. The suspect immediately noticed the 10 year old and draw his gun, pointing it at the child. Is is unclear, whether or not the suspect intended to shoot at the child or if he just wanted to scare him away. As Warren, of course feared for is life run back to the house of his relatives to call for help, the suspect fled the scene.

The victim was rushed to the Puerto Galera Hospital, where he was declared Death on Arrival (DOA) by Doctor Katrina Mae J. Ramos.

The investigation is ongoing. The unidentified suspect is still at large and considered armed and dangerous. During an interview with the Fortnightly Journal, Police Chief Inspector Lawrence V. Panganiban stated that the victim was not involved in drugs or gambling activities, therefor the motive has yet to be established. Further information will be hold back from the public at this time to avoid endangering the ongoing investigation. The Police suspect the motive of this cruel crime to be mostlikely found within the private surroundings of the victim.

– Who know someone of dark complexion, about 5`7inc high, wearing yesterday a blue shirt, brown maong shorts and a black cap?

– Who might have heard someone threatening the victim in the past?

– Who has seen a man, fitting the description yesterday just after 1pm in and around Tabinay, or any neighboring Barangay?

– Who had a customer transported in his/her vehicle, fitting the description above?
