The mayor’s chief aide and cousin, Carmela Datinguinoo, informed the Fortnightly that the official first name of the mayor of Puerto Galera is Rocky and not Rockey as has been used in correspondences since he was elected into public office 8 years ago.
Mayor Rocky Ilagan served for 6 years as barangay captain of Sabang and now 2 years into office as mayor. He was Rockey before but ever since he needed official documents he used what is the written name in his birth certificate. To avoid confusion, it is advised to use Rocky from now on.

The Puerto Galera Children’s Playground started as a chat between PGF Editor Noe Lineses and John Dunlap – that one thing missing in our town is a Children’s play area. They were later joined by Eleanor Evangelista, Chuck Driver, Kees, Koornstra, Mike Chetkowski, Pedro and Amy Magsino, Poblacion Barangay Captain Aries Atienza, Danny Capit, Gilbert Lineses and MPDC Mc Niel Ceniza.
Mayor Rocky Ilagan expressed his full support for the Children’s Playground which shall be located at around 900 sqm of land at the Plaza Iluminada in Poblacion (town proper).
The Mayor also said that he will tell the contractor of the rehabilition and development of the plaza to prioritize the rehabilitation of the area where the playground equipment will be placed.
When the group started posting in FB about the playground project, several resorts and individuals contributed funding for the financing of the playground equipment.
